The "Palestinian State" - Did It Ever Actually Exist? If So, Is There A Legitimate Claim for Land Against Israel?

Who Are the "Palestinians"?

The Palestinian people are the people who live in what the Romans referred to as "Palestine" and this would include the Jewish people.  Indeed, the province of Palestine was referred to as Rome as one of its provinces during the time of the Roman Empire.

Prior to this, Egyptians referred to the area as "Peleset" according to 5 ancient inscriptions. Additionally, Assyrians referred to the area as "Palashtu" or "Pilistu".  However other ancient indicators also called the area "Caanan" wherein lived the Cannanite people.  This was a general reference to an area and apparently not to any "indigenous" people who inhabited the area today known as Palestine or Israel and the area did not have any known boundaries either.

Apparently, many different people of various groups inhabited this area including Caananite speaking peoples.  And, in the very first instances, Palestine was a province of the ancient Egyptian Empire and more notably, referred to as a colony.

The Philistines lived in city-states but never had any political prowess to establish a "true" kingdom on any ancient map.  Today, these "Palestinians" are simply Arab-speaking people.  And in fact, the word, "Arab" means "mixed" and is considered today to be a "pan-ethnic" group of Southern Asia.

Additionally, the Philistine city-states only ever controlled 5 cities in the Palestinian area and were never cohesive enough to be placed on a map as having truly controlled any real territory except where Gaza may be concerned.  However, over the centuries and the mixing with nearby Arabs, these city states are considered to be "Arab" more so than any particular "ethnic" group.

Palestine As A General Area

The references to Palestine as an area is much more common than as a reference to its peoples.  If Palestinians are people who reside in Palestine, then Jews, Arabs and Christians of all various nationalities are Palestinian so long as they are residing in the area of Palestine.

Qu'ran States Land Was Given to Moses by God

S 5:20-26

The Writings of Moses (A Prophet of Islam) Indicate the Land Belongs to the Jews:

Genesis 15:18

Exodus 23:31

Conclusion

There is no "ethnic" Palestinian people.  The Palestinians who currently consider themselves as "Arabs" are part of the broader pan-ethnic Arab heritage.

Palestine does exist but only as a geological reference.  Israel exists as a legal nation state which resides in the borders of Palestine.

Palestinian Arabs exist more freely under the laws of Israel than anywhere else in the Arab world as Israel is mostly governed as a "secular state" for the most part.

Palestinian Arabs have the opportunity for partial self-governance in the State of Israel.

Currently, the West Bank and Gaza are controlled by the militant groups of Hamas and the Islamic State making them extremely dangerous places of terrorist activity and everyday violence.
